Furniture is easier to love than light, which is why so many rooms are furnished first and lit later. We reverse that order. Morning, afternoon, and evening are drawn as three different rooms before a sofa is chosen.
Ceiling glare is the fastest way to make a careful interior feel cheap. We keep general light low and use lamps, picture lights, and a few well-placed downlights for tasks.
If a space has no good daylight, we do not pretend. Mirrors, pale plaster, and a clearer plan can help, but honesty about the room is better than a rendering that cheats the sun.
