A room should look better in five years than on the day it is photographed. That is the test we use when a finish is proposed: will it take light, touch, and time without asking to be replaced.
We favour honed stone over polish, oil over lacquer, and textiles that can be cleaned rather than protected behind a showroom sheen. The palette stays narrow so the house can collect objects without becoming noisy.
When a client asks for something louder, we usually move the emphasis to scale or craft rather than colour. A larger table, a deeper window seat, a better lamp — these changes last longer than a trend.
